B Sc (Hons) Biotechnology emphases specifically on the biological sciences aspect of Biotechnology. The main prominence of this course will be on Research & Development in biological sciences fields such as developmental biology, genetics, Biochemistry, Plant and Animal physiology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Microbial Genetics, etc.

Objectives (PO):

  • To teach courses in basic sciences, communication skills, and introduce the concepts of biotechnology
  • To explain the fundamental concepts of the complexities of life, life functions, and diversity of life on the planet
  • To impart knowledge about biochemical and molecular underpinnings of the cellular and metabolic functions
  • To impart knowledge about tools and techniques used for the genetic manipulation of bacteria, plants and animals
  • To introduce basic skills required for statistical and biological sequence data analysis
  • To teach courses highlighting the importance of biotechnology for the society
  • To provide necessary training for conducting basic biotechnology experiments

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent system from any recognized Central/ State Board with Physics and Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subject alongwith Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science with minimum aggregate marks of 45% or equivalent grade for GEN/OBC and 40% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST Category.

The major outcomes of the program are:
