Industry is seeking young engineers who have knowledge of these technologies and have been trained on them by experts throughout their course work. Big Data Analytics is one such futuristic technology which will be helping companies to examine huge chunks of data, uncover information such as hidden patterns, markets trends, and customer preferences and thereby helping in making informed business decisions.

Scope of Big Data Analytics:

Big Data Analytics provides you with necessary skill set to collect, process, clean and analyze big volume of transactional and other forms of data. This is an advanced analytical system including complex application elements like predictive models, statistical algorithms etc. It will help businesses in taking data driven decisions to improve business related outcomes. The benefits may include more effective marketing strategies, new revenue openings, customer personalization and enhanced operating productivity.

Keeping in view the wide scope of this technology in all sectors of the industry, SRMU has collaborated with IBM to launch B.Tech in CSE with Specialization in Big Data Analytics. This program has been developed by the experts of IBM and university researchers, keeping in mind the need of competitive skills by the industry in future. It aims at developing skilled young professionals aiming the futuristic jobs and handsome remuneration, by the technology leader IBM.

Program Objectives (PO):

  • PEO1: To impart deep technical knowledge about the field of computer science and engineering.
  • PEO2: To develop an understanding of computer science and engineering at different levels of abstraction, including computer architecture and design, operating systems, database management, algorithms and applications.
  • PEO3: To develop in students a strong foundation in the field of Mathematical and basics of engineering fundamentals, necessary to analyze and evaluate real world engineering problems related to Data science and Artificial Intelligence and to further prepare them for higher studies, R&D.
  • PEO4: To develop life-long learning attitude among students and to make them aware about professional and social responsibility.
  • PEO5: To inculcate an understanding among the students for utilizing their knowledge of computer engineering and mathematical theory to solve current and future computing problems.
  • PEO6: To inspire leadership and professional values in the students.

Programme Learning Outcomes

The students of Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering (Big Data Analytics) will be able to:

  • Apply possessed knowledge of core subjects of production and industrial engineering to solve different problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

The students upon completion of Programme will be able:

  • PSO1: Understand and develop computer programs in the areas related to algorithms, system software, multimedia, web design, big data analytics and networking by identifying, demonstrating and analyzing the knowledge of engineering in efficient design of computer-based systems of varying complexity.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent system from any recognized Central/ State Board with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects alongwith one of the Chemistry/Computer Science/Technical Vocational Subject. Candidate must obtained minimum 45% marks or equivalent grade for GEN/OBC and 40% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST Category in the above subjects taken together.
