Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE)

Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE) deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams and buildings. During the study, the students is exposed to various subjects of Civil Engineering such as planning, drafting (both manual and computer-aided), surveying, estimation and costing, construction technology, basics of highway, railway, bridge, airport, tunnel and harbor engineering. The course also offers adequate exposure to reinforced concrete structures, quality control, material testing, construction management and entrepreneurship, professional practice. Students also get a feel for an extensive survey, building drawing, irrigation & bridge drawing and structural drawing. Students are also exposed to software like AutoCAD.

  • PO1 - Utilize the basic knowledge in mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and specialization to solve engineering problems.
  • PO2 - Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems and arrive at valid conclusions.
  • PO3 - Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
  • PO4 - Choose, apply and construct the appropriate techniques, resources and modern tools required for engineering applications, tests and measurements.
  • PO5 – Apply the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety and cultural issues and endure the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • PO6 - Examine the impact of engineering solutions in global and environmental contexts and utilize the knowledge for sustained development.
  • PO7 - Identify and demonstrate knowledge of ethical values in non-classroom activities, such as service learning, internships and field work.
  • PO8 - Perform effectively as an individual or as a member/ supervisor/ leader in multidisciplinary teams.
  • PO9 - Supervise the operation of industrial equipments and examine their performances.
  • PO10 - Communicate on engineering activities with the engineering community and society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write reports and design documentation, make presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  • PO11 - Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles to manage projects in multidisciplinary environment.
  • PO12 - Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in updating in the context of technological changes.

Program specific outcome are :

  • PSO1 - Demonstrate the application of fundamental knowledge of mathematics, science, and civil engineering to solve simple problems related to civil engineering works.
  • PSO2 - Apply the concept of civil engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
  • PSO3 - Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze, interpret data and use engineering knowledge to draw conclusions by using modern IT tools.
  • PSO4 - Understand the importance of ethical and professional responsibility and practices as civil engineer.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must have passed 10th or equivalent system from any recognized Central/State Board with minimum aggregate marks of 35% along with Science, Maths & English as compulsory subjects.
