Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Automobile) deals with the study of designing, manufacturing and operating automobiles likes buses, trucks, cars etc. and their respective engineering subsystems. It also offers specialization in aerodynamics, alternative fuels, chassis, electronics, emissions, ergonomics, manufacturing, materials, motor-sport, power-train, rapid prototyping, vehicle and pedestrian safety or supply chain management. After completion of the course, one can find much job option in various automobile sectors.

Objectives

  • PLO1 - Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Utilize the basic knowledge in mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and specialization to solve engineering problems.
  • PLO2 - Problem analysis: Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems and arrive at valid conclusions.
  • PLO3 - Design/ development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems omponents or processes to meet specified needs.
  • PLO4 - Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Choose, apply and construct the appropriate techniques, resources and modern tools required for engineering applications, tests and measurements.
  • PLO5 – Professional engineering practices for society: Apply the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety and cultural issues and endure the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • PLO6 - Environment and sustainability: Examine the impact of engineering solutions in global and environmental contexts and utilize the knowledge for sustained development.
  • PLO7 - Ethics: Identify and demonstrate knowledge of ethical values in non?classroom activities, such as service learning, internships and field work.
  • PO8 - Individual and team work: Perform effectively as an individual or as a member/supervisor/leader in multidisciplinary teams.
  • PLO9 - Supervisory skills – Supervise the operation of industrial equipment's and examine their performances.
  • PLO10 - Communication: Communicate on engineering activities with the engineering community and society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write reports and design documentation, make presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  • PLO11 - Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles to manage projects in multidisciplinary environment.
  • PLO12 - Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in updating in the context of technological changes.

Outcome

  • PSO1 - Analyze specific engineering problems relevant to Mechanical Engineering by applying the knowledge of basic sciences, engineering mathematics and engineering fundamentals.
  • PSO2 - Evolve engineering solution to the problems of Design, Manufacturing, Thermal, Industrial, automobiles domains using latest hardware and software tools, along with analytical and managerial skills.
  • PSO3 - Design and develop Disciplinary or Interdisciplinary a variety of equipment, system or process to meet desired environmental and industrial needs.
  • PSO4 - Establish a career in Mechanical or interdisciplinary areas as a Employee or entrepreneur

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate must have passed 10th or equivalent system from any recognized Central/State Board with minimum aggregate marks of 35% along with Science, Maths & English as compulsory subjects.
