Overview

Welcome to the Learning Resource Centre at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, a one-stop place in meeting your information needs. The LRC is equipped with a well-designed state-of-the-art infrastructure to complement the requirements for reading and research.

It is well fitted-out and well stocked with relevant and appropriate learning and information resources, both in print and electronic form. The resources are armed with latest collection of Books, Journals, Magazines, e-Journals, e-Books and Databases from globally known publishers.

The University Library System is fully automated using KOHA – Integrated Library Management System that enables users to search library’s collection and help them to locate precisely. KOHA includes modules for circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, serials, patron management, and more. KOHA OPAC (with KIOSK) interface allows them to perform searches, make purchase suggestions.

Objectives and Responsibilities


  • Provide current information resources to facilitate quality research, teaching and learning in all departments facilitate access to academic information materials both in print and e-formats e.g. e- books, e-journals and e-database.
  • To provide modern, efficient and effective library and information services that meet the information needs of the university stakeholders.
  • To develop and implement innovative information systems that will enhance the provision of academic information services.
  • To provide appropriate library physical facilities for efficient research, learning and studying.
  • To support university in achieving its research, teaching, and community service objectives.
  • To facilitate, maintain and enhance quality research, teaching and community service by developing knowledge collections that reflect the mission of the university, providing expertise, appropriate ICTs, outstanding services.
  • To provide materials containing a wide range of views on issues so that students may develop the practice of critical reading and thinking.
  • To Provide guidance in the use of technology, materials and resources.

Library Services


Circulation Services :

Circulation services at the Service Desk provide the lending of library materials during hours of library operation. Service Desk staffs are available to answer quaries and help you locate books and other materials in the library including reserves, old exams, and study aids. Come to the Service Desk to check-out and Check-in books, other materials. Students must present their SRMU University ID card when checking out reading materials. All checked out materials should be returned to the Circulation Service Desk.

Reprography Services :

The University strongly advocates use of electronic media for reading and as a matter of general concern for the environment, students are permitted to have printouts of the materials however for the return draft(s) photocopy services are available throughout for its users.

Reference Service

General information enquiry service is offered by professional associates of the library. Reference service is provided by library to its users in identifying pertinent information and in searching relevant e-resources via the reference desks located in the reading zone. Users may contact the relevant service counters for detailed information about the use of various collections.

General Rules for the use of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC)


Note: The main purpose of these rules is to safeguard the common interests of all readers and to enable the LRC to carry out its functions as efficiently as possible.
  • All the users entering the library should deposit their bags and other belongings at the property counter. Only notebooks and the library books to be returned would be allowed to be taken inside.
  • Id card cum Library card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
  • When Books are issued, student should check the pages of issued books and if pages are found missing, they should report the same to the Librarian before leaving the counter. On returning the books, if pages are found missing, then the last borrower of the book shall be held accountable for the missing pages and would be penalised as library rules.
  • Students are advised to submit the issued books on or before the due date. Failing which, a fine will be charged as per rules.
  • In case of delay in returning of books, an overdue fine will be imposed as per library rules.
  • No study material would be taken outside the LRC without being issued recorded as per library rules, and are required to be returned under stipulated time to the LRC at circulation counter.
  • Reference materials will not be issued in any case however could be used within library only.
  • Reprography facility could be accessed on an actual basis.
  • Readers must take care of LRC materials and must not deface them in any way, including by highlighting, underlining and scribbling within it or by distorting any part/label of the materials.
  • LRC users shall respect the rights of other users to work quietly. Silence shall be maintained as far as possible in the study areas of the LRC, other than in common areas allocated for group study. Mobile phones must be switched off or put into silent mode within LRC.
  • Outsiders are not permitted into the LRC except for Open Days or any other special events.
  • Computers and other devices connected to the University’s power supply must be used at designated desks.
  • No LRC materials may be reproduced for commercial purposes without Librarians nor used for any other commercial purpose without the Librarian’s consent.
  • Audible use of mobile phones, smoking, food and drinks are not allowed in the library.
