M.A. (Journalism & Mass Communication)

M.A (Journalism & Mass Communication) aims to produce best industry-experienced professionals by ensuring the practical training. The purpose of institute is to churn our professionals not just in Print Journalism but also in Broadcast Journalism, Corporate Communication, Film & Television, Event Management, New Media and other allied media fields.

Program Objective (PO)

  • Students from any disciplines get the basic understanding of journalism and mass communication.
  • The student shall learn both non-verbal and verbal skills- a pre-requisite for any industry especially media. The students shall be able to apply various tools and techniques of communication in the arena of public relations, corporate relations and advertising.
  • Shall become trained in developing news stories of both for print and electronic media. They will develop camera handling skills and the art of capturing the right moment.
  • To develop the skills to cyber security issues with a scientific position and then relates them to multi part of cyber world legal troubles.
  • To provide an overview to Communication Research and teach the student how to conduct Communication Research.
  • To emphasize the role of various International Bodies and international issues.
  • To learn the role played by the Internet, New and Social Media in Media today.
  • To learn the skills required for handling radio program production and to do piece to cameras, voice overs etc.
  • The students shall get to specialize in the area of rural, tribal communication or a thorough knowledge in Gender and Human Rights.
  • The students shall learn about the governance and several aspects of Indian Polity and Constitution.
  • The students shall study about the code of ethics and law applicable to media.
  • Students will learn the basics of management and their application in media and related industries.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLO)

  • Students will be able to describe and illustrate the basic and advanced idea about the various aspects of journalism and mass communication and its evolution.
  • The students shall be able to relate and apply with the various tools and techniques of communication in the arena of public relations, corporate relations and advertising.
  • The students shall be able to produce and compose news stories in English and Hindi for print and electronic media .They will develop camera handling skills and the art of capturing the right moment as well as usage and application of various photo and video editing softwares.
  • The student shall be able to solve cyber security issues with a scientific position and then be able to recognize and relate them to multi part of cyber world legal troubles.
  • The student shall be able to analyze various research methods for conducting communication research which shall aid him/her in designing research on any given topic/subject.
  • The students will be able to identify and discuss the role of international bodies and summarize international issues and power equations of contemporary world.
  • The student will be able to analyze how to utilize new media including social media for more effective communication, and design a more global and socially responsible perspective to maximize the potential of new media to enhance their creativity and effectiveness.
  • Student shall be able to demonstrate and practice the skills required for handling radio program production, understand and writing for cinema, and to do piece to cameras, voice over etc.
  • The students would be able to collaborate in the areas of rural communication, tribal communication and Gender and Human Rights.
  • The students will be able to infer, articulate and illustrate on the administrative, government and political proceedings.
  • The students will be able to interpret and report on the inticrities of ethical reporting with respect to mass media.
  • Students will be able to assess, relate and apply management practices in various media organizations and related industries.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed Graduation m any stream from any recognised University or AICTE recognised Institute/ College with minimum aggregate marks of 45% or CGPA of 5.0 for Gen/ OBC category and 40% marks or CGPA of 4.5 for SC/ ST Category.
