Objective
The course of M.A. has been designed to help the students to:
- To equip the students with the skills that will help them to be placed in premier national and international institutions.
- To acquaint them and enable them apply the theoretical and methodological tools in the analysis, interpretation and improvisation of the socio-cultural situations.
- To enable them build a value-based competent personality so that they can influence the well-being of their own self and the society at large.
- To help them observe, understand, interpret and analyse everyday rising societal complications to contribute with a wise solution to our society and nation.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have passed Graduation from any recognised University or AICTE recognised Institute/College in any stream with English as compulsory subject with minimum aggregate marks of 45% or CGPA of 5.0 for Gen/OBC and 40% marks or CGPA of 4.5 for SC/ST Category.

Outcome
After the completion of the course the student will be:
- PSO1 : Demonstrate an appropriate level of expertise in linguistics, language teaching, film studies, literary history, literary theory, literary criticism, rhetoric, genres, concepts, movements, schools, terminologies and a wide range of representative literary texts.
- PSO2 : Interpret, analyse and criticize a given text or situation on the basis of established frameworks; apply latest tools, techniques, theories, concepts and frameworks of English language and literature to assess and explain a given text or situation; demonstrate critical thinking, high-level proficiency and literary aesthetic in speech and writing.
- PSO3 : Appraise a piece of literature with higher degree of critical thinking; modify, combine, and propose theories, principles and research frameworks to carry out research; develop or create a piece of literary writing in various genres.
