M.Sc (Physics)

M.Sc (Physics)

A Master in Science in Physics is a two year degree programme. The programme targets building a bridge between pure and applied Physics. This course will enable students to develop insights into the techniques used in current research areas of Material Science, Solid State Physics, Nuclear Physics, Electronics and Quantum Mechanics. It equips students with the basic expertise to develop a career in the field of research and development.

Programme Objectives (PO)

  • Develop core competence in the various basic and advance level courses of physics.Identify and apply the appropriate analytic, numerical and computational tools to handle basic and advance level physics problems. Acquire competence in handling and setting up of instruments in the physics laboratory
  • Develop the ability to analyze scientific problems, evaluate evidence and identify ambiguity. Integrate knowledge of physics to make appropriate intellectual connections in other areas of physics.
  • Develop familiarity with the current state of research in one or more subfields of physics.
  • Enhance the presentation skill ability to communicate scientific information effectively.

Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO)

After doing Physics master course, our student will be able to:
  • Define the physical principles underlying variety of physical events at different scales such as classical and quantum and their applications.
  • Acquire appropriate skill in mathematics research oriented physics problems.
  • Apply analytical, numerical and computational skill to solve advance physics problems.
  • Demonstrate competence in different physics laboratory and also critically evaluate the state of art methods in some specific areas of the physics.
  • Apply knowledge of physics with integrative approach to enrich diverse fields.
  • Communicate scientific information effectively in written and oral forms.
  • Apply their responsibilities in societal and environmental contact.
  • Function individually and in teamwork
