Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University organized FIRST INTERNATIONAL LITERARY CONFERENCE, sponsored by the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy & South Asian Diaspora International Researchers’ Network, Monash University, Australia. Dr Shashi Tharoor, eminent writer Dr Tabish Khair and novelist-critic ,Prof Saikat Majumdar were among distinguished luminaries who participated in the deliberations. International giants like Janet Wilson (Professor of English and Postcolonial Studies at the University of Northampton, UK), Claire Chambers (Senior Lecturer at the University of York), Dr. Nancy Ellen Batty (Academic Program Development Manager at Red Deer College in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada), and James Hick (editor of the Massachusetts Review) were among those who featured in the star-studded team.
The International literary conference aimed at exploring the new landscape of India and its working cultures. More than 300 participants drawn from across 11 countries deliberated about the cultural mosaic of a new India.The driving force behind this conference was to understand the role played by language, literature, films and popular cultures in projecting the image of new India across the globe as the New India is a land of paradoxes and it was therefore vital to examine its cultures dimensions. so as to understand its nature, complexities and functioning.

Bharat yatra is a nation -wide campaign started by Shri Kailash Satyarthi to fight against the Child Labour and Child Sex Abuse and Catalyze the entire nation towards a Surakshit Bachpan -Surakshit Bharat (Safe Childhood-Safe India).Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University welcomed the initiative of Noble Laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthion 7th October ,2017 in the presence of 4 thousand students , research scholars , academicians, social activists from across the India
SRMU KITAAB LITERARY FESTIVAL
7th - 8th April, 2018 (in collaboration with KITAAB, Singapore).

The two-day long International Literary Festival organised in collaboration with ‘Kitaab’, Singapore on 7th April, 2018 at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University.
The Fest. witnessed a confluence of many luminaries from the academic and cultural field. Mr. Zafar Anjum, founder of ‘Kitaab’, Mr. Shishir Sharma (actor), Sudeep Sen, Miniya Chatterji, Kavitha Rao, Dr. Surya Prasad Dixit and Mr. Yogesh Praveen to name a few of the icons. The theme of the festival was ‘Micro Literature in the age of Social Media’. It also was the launch pad of the best Asian short stories and short films by ‘Filmwallas’. With a special screening of the Singapore- Lucknow short film, “More Chai Please”. It also provided a wonderful opportunity for the youth in the age group of 15 – 25 years to unleash their hidden genius by displaying their prowess in the field of short story writing through a competition based on the theme “Identity : A Search”. The first three winners were awarded by our esteemed guests. It also saw the launch of “Intercession: Tawassul”, Singapore’s first novel to be translated into an Indian language. Besides this the audience was enthralled by the numerous panel discussions by many eminent writers of Hindi and Urdu from India and abroad.
The icing on the cake for our guests specially was the mesmerizing portrayal of indian culture in the form of a musical theatrical presented by the students of the university. The university believes that this revolutionary festival will seek the rise of literature amalgamated with social media and the emerging Micro-Literature, bringing a technological change and a transformational response.

The two day international conference on “Rethinking the Global South: Literatures, Cultures and Media” in collaboration with Challenging Precarity: A Global Network, UK was organized by the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences, Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Lucknow -Deva Road, Uttar Pradesh. Honourable Governor of West Bengal Shri Kesari Nath Tripathi Ji, the Chief Guest of the Conference, an eminent scholar and orator graced the occasion with his benign presence. About ten nations around the globe participated in the intellectual ambience. The eminent world scholars Prof. Janet Wilson (Northampton University, UK), Prof. Peter Oliver Arnds (Trinity College Dublin, Ireland), Prof. Elisabetta Marino (University of Rome tor Vergata, Italy), Prof. Ana Maria Fraile Marcos (University of Salamanca, Spain), Prof. Halina Ewa Marlewicz (Jagiellonian University), Prof. Lisa Bloom(UC Berkeley, California, USA) including the renowned scholars from India Prof. Avadhesh Kumar Singh (Vice Chancellor, AURO University, Surat), Prof. A.N. Dwivedi (University of Allahabad) Prof. S.P. Dixit, Former HOD; Department of Hindi, University of Lucknow, Prof S.K. Sharma (University of Allahabad) Prof. Vikram Rao, (Director, Journalist Association of India) Prof. S.Z.H. Abidi (Integral University, Lucknow) Prof. Shubha Tiwari (APS University, Reeva, MP) and the dignitaries, research scholars across the national and international circuit became the part of the event.
In the International Conference the effort was to revisit and rethink the conceptual framework of the Global South by putting queries on; “does the Global South find itself a victim or a benefactor in the global capitalism, the methodology of the productions of the Global South compete the productions of the North, the different experiences of globalization within the Global South, the ways in which the globalization bridge the gap between the North and the South, is global south a promise or predicament in the process of globalization”.
