The Institute of Management, Commerce and Economics (IMCE Department) of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University (SRMU) organized a highly insightful Guest Lecture on “Navigating GST 2.0: Compliance, Technology Upgrades, E-Invoicing and Future Challenges for Business” on 9th October 2025. The session brought together students, faculty members, and experts from the field of taxation and commerce to discuss the transformative journey of India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime and its evolving technological landscape. The event was graced by Mr. Niraj Singh, Joint Commissioner, GST Lucknow, as the Chief Guest, whose presence added immense value to the proceedings. In his address, Mr. Singh shared his deep insights into the evolution of GST from its inception to the advanced GST 2.0 framework, highlighting the government’s initiatives toward automation, transparency, and ease of compliance. He also emphasized how digitization and technology integration—particularly e-invoicing and real-time reporting mechanisms—are revolutionizing the way businesses operate and comply with tax regulations. His talk encouraged students to view GST not just as a regulatory framework but as a powerful tool for promoting financial discipline and national growth.
The session featured distinguished speakers — CMA Juhi Upadhyay, CS Manish Mishra, and CA Rohit Singh — each bringing unique expertise from their respective domains.
CMA Juhi Upadhyay elaborated on the practical aspects of compliance under GST 2.0, explaining how businesses can streamline their accounting and financial reporting systems using updated technology tools.
CS Manish Mishra discussed the corporate governance and regulatory implications of GST reforms, focusing on the legal responsibilities of organizations in maintaining accurate records and timely filing.
CA Rohit Singh captivated the audience with real-life examples and case studies, illustrating the challenges faced by enterprises in adapting to continuous policy updates, as well as strategies to ensure seamless tax compliance.
The guest lecture was moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Munish Verma, who set the tone for the session with a brief overview of the objectives and relevance of the topic in today’s business environment. He highlighted how knowledge of taxation and compliance is essential for future professionals in finance, management, and entrepreneurship. The session was smoothly coordinated with the support of dedicated faculty members and enthusiastic student volunteers, whose teamwork ensured the event’s success. Adding vibrancy to the proceedings, Vivek and Stuti delivered excellent anchoring that kept the audience engaged and energized throughout. The media and system support teams also played a pivotal role in ensuring seamless execution, from managing audiovisual arrangements to capturing key moments for university records and publications.
The interactive Q&A session towards the end gave students the opportunity to seek clarity on practical issues like input tax credit reconciliation, GST returns automation, and the challenges of e-invoicing implementation for MSMEs. The speakers addressed each query in detail, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practice. The session provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of GST 2.0, its compliance requirements, and the upcoming technological transitions shaping India’s indirect tax ecosystem. It also underscored the growing role of technology in taxation—paving the way for smarter, data-driven governance and increased accountability.
The IMCE Department expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished guests, speakers, faculty members, and students whose active participation and enthusiasm made the lecture a grand success. The department reaffirmed its commitment to organizing more such knowledge-sharing events that expose students to industry trends, policy developments, and professional practices critical for their academic and career growth.
