Prof. (Dr.) Abhishek Saxena
Prof. (Dr.) Abhishek Saxena, an environmentalist and academician, is currently working as Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering with additional charge of Director in Institute of Architecture and Planning at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Barabanki.
He is empanelled Functional Area Expert for EIA studies (Category "A" projects- HG) since 2011 (till date), empanelled by National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India. He is a renowned member of the National Level Expert Committee (NLEC) for “Auto Detection of Construction through Satellite Imageries”, Ghaziabad Development Authority since 2013. He is also Empanelled Groundwater Expert for CGWA (Central Ground Water Authority), Government of India (2021).
He had also received the “ITP Young Scientist Award 2006, by IWMI-TATA Water Policy Program for major findings in his Ph.D. research work. He has been the recipient of the Guru Pranam Award 2016, awarded by Amar Ujala, for the contributions in the field of education and research towards an incremental growth of our society in Uttar Pradesh. He is currently working as Principal Investigator in Project entitled “Affordable filter for arsenic removal from drinking water using bio-adsorption techniques” (Project ID:1785) granted by Council of Science and Technology, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh (Funding by UPCST- Rs. 9.64 lacs).
His career was initiated with World Bank projects, succeeded by his prominent role in SMEC an Australian MNC, where he worked on various ADB, JICA, World Bank and GOI funded projects. He had played a major role in Water Resource Management of Uttar Pradesh through preparing Decision Support System (DSS) for entire Ghaghara Gomati Basin covering about 35 districts of UP. This project was funded by World Bank under UPWRSP Phase -I. UNICEF also witnesses his skills as he worked as the State Water Safety Consultant for Uttar Pradesh. With more than 22 years of experience in the field of water quality, EIA, groundwater, and water resource management, he has specialization in Water Quality and Groundwater Modelling. He has successfully completed various consultancy assignments for Ground Water Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India costing over Rs. 2.0 Cr. He holds the fellowship of “The Society of Earth Scientists” and “Indian Society of Remote Sensing”.
He has about more than 60 publications in his credit including research papers in prominent journals, conferences, books and book chapters. He is actively involved in projects dealing with drinking water quality issues of arsenic, nitrate, fluoride, salinity, etc. in surface and groundwater of Uttar Pradesh along with Groundwater Management Plans. He has also been granted 8 International Patents on his research findings. Under his guidance 7 PhDs have been awarded and 5 are in progress.
