SRMU Organizes One-Day Awareness Camp on Child Sex Trafficking

National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit–I of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University (SRMU) organized its second one-day awareness camp on “Child Sex Trafficking” on 6 February 2026 for university students and residents of Srinagar Village. The programme was conducted with active participation from officers of the Uttar Pradesh Police, who sensitized participants to the seriousness of child sex trafficking and the critical role of society in its prevention. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among youth and the local community about identifying risks, protecting children, and reporting suspicious activities.

During the session, officers from the Uttar Pradesh Police shared vital legal information related to the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) and explained the procedures for timely reporting and legal intervention. Emphasis was laid on community vigilance, particularly at railway stations, bus stands, and rural transit points, which are often identified as trafficking hotspots. The interaction encouraged participants to act responsibly, remain alert, and support law enforcement agencies in safeguarding children. The camp reinforced SRMU’s commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and the promotion of a safe and aware society through its NSS initiatives.
